I was announced as the winner of the inaugural award for ‘Chartered Environmentalist of the Year’ at the Sustain Awards in London on 5 March 2013. This specific award is sponsored by the Society for the Environment and is drawn from nominations by each of the 23 member organisations that make up Soc Env. Altogether there are 7,000 Chartered Environmentalists, so it was very heart-warming to be recognised among all of those.
As luck would have it, I was in Tokyo with the IOC Evaluation Commission at the time, so I asked John Newton of The Ecology Consultancy to collect the award on my behalf – if I won. See this short video to see how he did.
